Spellbinding Lovers’ Fight

When words couldn’t get through, these gay lovers got physical.
The new music video for Hercules & Love Affair’s “I Try to Talk to You” has a very simple concept: gay lovers’ physical brawl depicted as a hyper-stylized, spellbinding dance number. The two embittered rivals are played by contemporary dancers Danny Dolan and Logan Schyvynck, dancing their way around an emotionally-charged domestic battle.

In this stylish black-and-white video, director David Wilson give us a glimpse of a real painful heartbreak, the type that can shatter a relationship behind closed doors. In the end, no matter how hard we try to make up and put the pieces back together, sometimes love just leaves us alone.

Fashion e-shop SSENSE and System magazine helped bring Wilson’s vision to life, and in return the video features looks from the Spring collections of Acne Studios, Balmain and Alexander Wang.

p.s. The song, “I Try to Talk to You” features haunting vocals by John Grant, an openly-gay artist who had a song or two on the first season of HBO’s Looking.
