Inside Snoop Dogg’s SXSW Pop-Up Stoner Pad

The sun came out in Austin just in time for Snoop Dogg’s “Wake and Bake” event at the outdoor Airbnb park on Tuesday morning. The makeshift, carefully manicured, white picket fenced park featured three trailer-sized pop-up kithauses designed by artists specifically for South By Southwest.
The park had a fresh lemonade stand, a Blue Bottle Coffee stand and, of course, a gin and juice stand. Guests of the “Wake and Bake” picnic played ball, munched on breakfast sandwiches with grape jelly and listened to live DJs while waiting for Snoop Dogg to come give a tour of his fab shack.

Snoop Dogg’s pop-up stoner pad at 420 Snoop had an oversized lit up “BO$$” sign, a television playing his favorite film, The Mack, as well as a balance scale, presumably to weigh and measure herbs from his garden.

The rapper, who collaborated with an HGTV designer to outfit his chill-out shed, told us that his favorite items were the two Huey Newton-style bamboo chairs out on the deck that his grandmother used to have.

Snoop also took the opportunity to share his insight on SXSW and how it’s still an important avenue for up-and-coming artists:

[blockquote source=””]I still feel like SXSW should still pay tribute to the artist who are independent and don’t have record deals because that’s what [the festival] was built on. We respect those new, hungry artists because they keep us inspired to know that there’s somebody out there striving to become who we are. It takes us back to the days when we didn’t have record deals and we had to try and be seen and heard.[/blockquote]

Later that day, Snoop Dogg presented his “Respect the West” DJ and rapper showcase at the Airbnb Park, which featured a surprise performance by Whiz Khalifa.
