[dropcap background=”yes” color=”#333333″ size=”50px”]H[/dropcap]ello Mr., Ryan Fitzgibbon’s inspired magazine about the nuance of man-on-man love, had its first event in Los Angeles on Friday, January 31. The sold-out cocktail mixer brought out the city’s finest “misters,” including Jake Shears, Grizzly Bear’s Ed Droste (Hello Mr. cover boy) and Justin Mikita (Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s hubby). Mr. Fitzgibbon also called his girlfriend, Robyn, to come celebrate.
The dreamy bunch gathered at the new Ace Hotel housed in Downtown L.A.’s historic, recently-renovated United Artists Theater. Also in attendance: filmmaker Chris Moukarbel (Jake Shears’ hubby), designer Chad McPhail (Ed Droste’s hubby), Kindness singer Adam Bainbridge, Hommemaker founder Orlando Soria, Conor Patrick Hogan, actress Zoe Lister-Jones, filmmaker Daryl Wein, The Fox Is Black editor Bobby Solomon, Hollywood Reporter event director Eric Rutherford, photographers Luke Austin and Daniel Seung Lee, among others.
The awesome gift bag included everything you’d need for a last-minute slumber party with your crush: an American Apparel tee, Mack Weldon underwear, Richer Poorer socks, Pommes Frites candle, Ursa Major skin products, Uber credit to get home safe after cocktails and a Field Notes journal to document your steamy evening in the sleepy morning after.
As to whether either Jake Shears or Robyn will grace the cover of an upcoming issue of Hello Mr? “Nope, they were just there to support,” said Fitzgibbon.
New Yorkers feeling left out will get a chance to meet plenty of misters at the magazine’s upcoming Hello Love party at the vintage-inspired basement of The Wooly. Watch the invitation video below (featuring music by Hippie Sabotage and clothes by Maison Kitsune) and buy tickets to the party here.
For the rest of us, lucky in love but unlucky in zip code, send one of these digital Valentine’s inspired by the event to your #1 boy(s).
