I still remember the day I fell in love with Mark Rothko. It was during my study abroad stint in my Madrid when I decided to venture alone to the city’s Reina Sofia. I stood in front of some of Rothko’s most consuming paintings, and instantly I had a new favorite artist.
And apparently I’m not the only one. In his Homage to Rothko, Richard Ehrlich manipulated gorgeous photos of sunsets in Malibu to evoke a Rothkonian aesthetic.
